Living Intentionally Begins with Awareness

Most of us believe the world determines how we feel.

But what if it is the other way around?

What if awareness comes first?

When we change how we see things, what we see begins to change—not because the world shifts, but because we do.

Awakening, to me, is remembering that we have always been participating in the creation of our experience. We simply forgot.

Once that idea begins to settle in, it naturally leads to a deeper question:

What exactly are we creating, and how?

Contrast Is Not Failure—It Is Clarity

One of the biggest shifts in my life came when I realized something simple:

I know what I do not want, and that is helping me understand what I do want.

Every disappointment, success, loss, challenge, and relationship has helped shape the life I am intentionally creating.

Without contrast, how would I recognize peace, joy, or clarity? How would I know what feels good if I had never experienced what did not? How would I understand courage without first encountering fear?

I began to see contrast differently—not as punishment or failure, but as information.

Maybe contrast is not working against us. Maybe it is revealing us to ourselves.

My inner being may allow me to move through experiences I do not want in order to clarify what I do want. I may already carry the desire within me, but contrast helps define it.

Every experience adds another piece to the picture. As that picture becomes clearer, something else begins to happen:

Life itself begins to feel more responsive.

Life Is Always Responding

Life often reflects what we believe—not just what we say, but what we repeatedly expect, feel, and practice.

That realization changed everything.

Instead of asking, “Why is this happening to me?” I began asking, “What is this showing me?”

That single shift transformed my relationship with life.

It also helped me understand that discomfort does not always mean I am doing something wrong. Often, it simply reveals where my attention has been resting.

Awareness gives me something incredibly powerful: the ability to choose again.

Heaven on Earth Begins Within

With that awareness comes responsibility—not pressure, but possibility.

I do not want to miss the bigger picture.

For me, the bigger picture is creating a little more Heaven on Earth—not someday, but now.

I choose to see it. I choose to feel it. I choose to live from it before my circumstances reflect it.

I am no longer interested in arguing, debating, judging, or waiting for everyone else to understand. Every soul awakens in its own timing.

My responsibility is simply to live what feels true within me.

As I continue walking this path, I am learning something simple:

Speak more when it feels aligned.

Speak less when it does not.

I want to move beyond negativity and self-judgment while also recognizing the moments when I have extended that judgment toward others.

Love has become my compass.

The more I follow it, the more I realize that my emotions are not obstacles. They are part of my guidance system.

The Emotional Journey

For years, I believed negative emotions meant I was failing.

Now I see them differently. I see them as movement.

We do not always leap from despair into joy. There are steps in between.

The journey may look something like this:

That does not mean we are lost. It means we are moving.

Someone experiencing despair may not be able to hear hope yet. They may not be able to feel joy, but they may be able to feel anger.

Anger, while never the destination, can sometimes be the first sign that someone is reclaiming their power.

Our emotions are invitations, not permanent places to live.

Our inner being does not ask us to skip steps. It simply keeps inviting us forward.

The Friend Within

The more I listen, the more I realize I have never been alone.

My inner being. My soul. The Spirit of God. Papa G.

Whatever name resonates most deeply with your heart.

That presence has never stopped guiding me—never condemning, never abandoning, always whispering:

“Come a little closer.”

What constant love. What steady support.

The more I recognize that what I seek already lives within me, the more I trust it.

Thoughts influence emotions. Emotions influence actions. Actions shape experiences.

The life I experience begins long before my circumstances appear.

It begins within.

Choosing Responsibility Over Resistance

I have learned something that has completely changed the way I experience life.

For a long time, I believed many of my struggles were caused by everything happening around me. Sometimes they were. But more often than I realized, the greatest struggle was happening within me.

It was the stories I repeated, the fears I rehearsed, the resistance I held onto, the judgments I carried, and the expectations I could not release.

As my awareness began to grow, I recognized a pattern. Every time I chose fear over trust, resentment over forgiveness, or worry over peace, I was moving farther away from the life my heart longed to experience.

That realization was not meant to bring guilt or shame.

It brought freedom.

If my thoughts, beliefs, and responses helped shape my experience, then I also had the ability to choose differently. I did not have to wait for my circumstances to change before I could begin changing my life.

I do not have to be perfect.

I simply have to become aware.

Every moment offers another opportunity to choose:

Those small choices, made consistently, begin to reshape not only how I experience life, but also how I move through it.

That is where freedom begins for me.

It does not begin by pretending life is easy or by ignoring the challenges that inevitably come my way. It begins by remembering that I always have a choice in how I respond.

Every new choice becomes the beginning of a new path.

The Things We Lose

I have lost many things that mattered deeply to me.

I have searched everywhere, convinced they were gone forever. Then, days later, months later, or sometimes even years later, there they were.

Every time it happens, I smile.

I tell myself that Papa G and my heavenly helpers were having a little fun with me.

More importantly, those moments have taught me something.

Sometimes we only find what we are looking for after we stop gripping so tightly.

Perhaps the same is true of peace, purpose, healing, and even ourselves.

Maybe those things were never truly gone.

Maybe we simply were not able to see them yet.

Choosing My Conversations

That same awareness has changed the conversations I choose to participate in.

If a conversation is rooted in fear, blame, hopelessness, or constant lack, I no longer feel the need to argue.

I do not have to convince anyone. I do not have to judge them. I can simply step away with love.

I can care deeply about someone while also protecting the peace I have worked so hard to cultivate.

That is not rejection.

It is stewardship.

I have also learned that I can only hear what I am ready to hear. The same is true for everyone else.

That is okay.

We all awaken in our own time.

The Path of Least Resistance

Life is always offering a gentler path, yet I still have a choice.

Sometimes I choose trust. Sometimes I choose resistance. Sometimes I repeat old stories because they feel familiar. Sometimes I ignore the quiet wisdom within me.

There is no condemnation in those moments.

There is only another invitation:

Resistance is not punishment.

It is information.

It lovingly shows me where fear still lives and where love is inviting me next.

Allowing Myself to Become

I am allowing myself to become all I was created to be—not through pressure or perfection, but through awareness.

Through trust. Through responsibility. Through listening. Through choice.

Every feeling offers guidance. Every experience offers clarity. Every moment offers another opportunity to choose.

Awareness becomes choice.

Choice becomes experience.

Experience becomes wisdom.

Wisdom becomes peace.

So I keep practicing.

I keep trusting.

I keep remembering.

I keep living.

I am not waiting for life to become perfect. I am choosing to live it fully, consciously, and intentionally.

Perhaps awakening is not about becoming someone new.

Perhaps it is simply remembering who we have been all along.

And maybe that is what it truly means to Live Intentionally Now.
